The Katrin Gondola in Bad Ischl takes you on a 15-minute ride in charming 4-passenger cabins up to sunny, fog-free elevations.
At the Katrinalm at over 1400 m above sea level, you are greeted by wintry peace & quiet, pristine nature, sun loungers and even a small sledding hill for children. In summer, it serves as the base for the 7 Lakes Hike, for walks to viewing platforms, along with a fixed-cable climb. Your hosts at Berggasthof & Almhütte Katrin promise a delicious culinary selection for you to enjoy out on their sunny terraces.
Sail across Lake Hallstatt on a traditional salt barge
Experience Hallstatt from its most beautiful perspective.
Your 60-minute cruise casts off from the “Polreich” boat landing on Seestrasse (5-min walk from the salt mine). You will sail past the “Kreuz”, Schloss Grub, the Engländer Villa and the town of Hallstatt itself before returning to the dock. You alone (max. 11 people) exclusively with the skipper, who is certain to have lots of intriguing information to share with you. If you wish, you are also welcome to take the rudder of this traditional vessel and put your own “seafaring” talents to the test!
In Waidring, bell casting looks back on a long tradition. At “Bell World” and on a bell theme path (as of summer 2020), you will be given intriguing insights into the role which bells once played in the Alpine world, the folk traditions which developed as a result, and why Waidring is home to two of the three bell foundries still located in Tyrol.
From the mine into Casino-Keller Bad Ischl
On an exciting journey back in time, discover the over 500-year-old, 380m² cellar carved out of solid rock. It once served as a natural refrigerator for the Bad Ischl brewery and is for the most part preserved in its original form. In front of that, the Kellerhaus was home to a legendary dance bar and painters’ studio for decades.
